Adobe will render your audio in both waveform and spectral displays, which will progress in time from left to right. To make sure you are in the Waveform editing interface, select the waveform button in the upper left-hand corner and make sure your correct audio track is selected from the file panel. Waveform editing is the process of editing a single audio track. You will also find buttons to play, pause, fast forward, and rewind your audio at the bottom of the panel.Įssential Sound – This panel is located on the right hand side and is where you will classify your audio by type for Ducking. This is where your audio clips will be rendered and you will be able to edit them. This is useful for undoing actions and going back to previous versions of your project.Įditor Panel – The editor panel is the biggest panel, located in the center of the Audition interface.
History Panel – Located in the bottom left hand corner, the history panel will show you a log of every action you take while editing. Once we have opened a multitrack session, you can also drag multiple files onto your editor panel from the files panel.Įffects Rack – Located below the files panel, this is where you can apply effects to your audio. From here, you can open the tracks individually by clicking on them. After you import your files, they should be listed in the file panel. Import files by pressing the second file icon with an arrow next to it. The Lasso and Marquee selection tools are also located on the toolbar and let you select more specific parts of your audio rather than all of the sound from one time stamp to another.įiles Panel – Located in the upper left hand corner, this is where you can import and see the files you are working with. Time Selection Tool – shaped like a cursor, the Time Selection tool helps you select portions of your audio to manipulate. Razor Tool – shaped like a razor blade the razor tool helps you cut audio into pieces. Move tool – an arrowhead and a move symbol this tool helps you drag audio to different locations and times. This is where you will switch from Multitrack editing to Waveform Editing as well as where you will find your editing tools. Toolbar – The Toolbar is at the top of the Adobe window. Here are the menus and panels that you should be familiar with. When you first open Audition you will be presented with a panel and menu layout similar to Adobe’s other programs such as Photoshop. Audition also works in tandem with Adobe’s video editing software, Premiere, and can be used to directly edit audio from video clips. Audition can be used for making music but is more often used for editing audio of people talking for interviews and podcasts. It allows you to manipulate single tracks of audio as well as mix several tracks together.
